News & Updates

The recent appearances by the Christ United Methodist Puppet Theater Group have gotten rave reviews by the folks at that church and the Westfield UMC also.  Those shows contained interactions between several different puppet characters, including the voice of God, Jonah, The music and characters of The Fishes of the Sea, bubbles, a rowdy celebration group and more.   The very funny fuzzy MC; Ernie-O caught everyone's attention and giggle trigger immediately, especially the children present.

The Hand and Rod puppets were built by the puppeteers under the direction of Master Puppeteer Rev. Bruce Arbour, pastor of this church and his wife, Audrey Alstadt.  The new puppeteers were taught puppet operation and character building along with props, set building, use and design.  They also learned script and improvisational performance techniques, how to move both the puppet and puppeteer; called blocking and Black Light Theater techniques.

Each puppeteer made and played their puppet to have a unique presentation and personality.  All of the group agreed that although a new learning experience, they loved doing it and will continue to present shows as frequently as they can.  They agreed to travel as needed to bring their Christian message and fun.   New puppeteers and tech crew are always welcome to join.  Just contact Rev. Bruce.  The groups next performance will be on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2014 in the church sanctuary.
